How to care for your new hair!

Washing your hair

  • You want to keep your hair clean to avoid tangling and excess oils that will cause hair fall.  You also  want to avoid over washing as it can lessen then life of the hair and fade the color over time.
  • Prior to washing your wig, make sure you comb out any tangles while the hair is dry.
  • Fill a sink or bowl with cold water and squirt a small amount of SULFATE FREE shampoo into it and swish it around to evenly distribute the shampoo. Avoid hot water.
  • Gently swish the hair in the water and let it soak for 5 minutes. Do not rub or apply any friction.
  • Remove the wig from the water and run it under the faucet making sure to keep running the water until you see no more suds or soap on the wig.
  • Squeeze some conditioner In the palms of your hands and You can gently finger comb down the length of the hair to distribute conditioner and detangle. Do not use any conditioner, or hair mask, oils etc. on the wig base, apply it only from the mid-length to tips. Let the conditioner sit on the hair for a few minutes up to 10 minutes.
  • Rinse the conditioner the same way you rinsed the shampoo. Make sure to remove all of the conditioner so that your wig doesn’t become greasy. After rinsing conditioner from the wig, carefully squeeze out excess water. Do not briskly towel dry. Wrap the towel around the length of the hair and press to remove excess water. Do not twist or wring the hair. After removing as much water as you can, place it on the wig stand to air dry.

Drying & Styling

  • Air drying is always recommended to preserve the life of your wig. Always brush the hair from the bottom working your way up. This will help to prevent breakage while detangling.
  • You can do with your wig whatever you would do with your own hair. You can cut it, style it, dye it, perm it, etc. However, it is important to note that any extra chemical treatment damages the hair and lowers its quality and lifetime.
  • Many hair products can be used on wigs, (hair spray, mousse, gel, etc.)
However, it is best to avoid hair products that contain alcohol and sulfates. Also, you should avoid over using products, especially leave in conditioner and hairspray, as it can cause a lot of buildup in the wig, which will make it more prone to tangles.
  • To keep the hair soft you can apply apply some leave-in conditioner on the hair ends or some detangoing product. Never apply it on the wig base, especially not on a silk top.
  • Be sure to use heat protection before using heat tools (e.g. curling iron/flat iron). Too much heat may damage/dry out the hair, just like it would do with your own hair.
  • When using hot tools it is recommended to use a lower heat setting to preserve the life of the hair.

Hair Fall

  • ALL lace wigs shed. Shedding from here and there is normal, but if you notice a particular shedding pattern, such as patches of baldness, this is the sign that hair is not rinsed enough when washing the wig or there were oils put onto the lace.
  • To avoid shedding it is crucial to rinse the cap area very well when washing the hair to be sure that no product residual is left between the layers. If you do not rinse enough then the buildup of products between the layers might cause the hair knots to loosen, and therefore shed.
  • Do not roughly brush your wig when it's completely wet. Always work tangles out starting from the hair ends.
  • Please be aware that adhesives (glue or tape) and solvents, that contain alcohol to remove adhesives, significantly reduce the life of the wig especially on bleached knots.
  • Using excess heat can also cause hair to become dry and brittle, so air drying is recommended.
